About Yuki Tanaka
Western nutritional advice often treats food as fuel and forgets it's also belonging, memory, and family. I work with food as all three.
Yuki Tanaka is a Registered Dietitian practicing in Toronto with a focus on culturally-aligned nutrition counselling. She has eight years of clinical experience and additional certifications in eating disorder support.
Born in Osaka and raised in Toronto, Yuki practices in English and Japanese. Her clients are often East Asian Canadians navigating Western dietary advice that doesn't account for rice-based cuisines, family-style eating, or the cultural meanings of food in their lives. Her work bridges that gap.
Yuki holds advanced training in culturally adapted nutrition counselling, eating disorder support, and integrative dietetics. She works with individuals and families, and accepts referrals from facilities and practitioners across the wellness ecosystem.
Session formats: In-person at the Toronto Annex office and virtual. Bilingual English/Japanese available. Insurance billing supported through most major Canadian insurers.
How my background shapes my work
My grandmother served the same dishes for sixty years. They weren't just meals; they were how she said love. When I started in dietetics, I realized most training stripped that meaning away from food. I keep it in.
