About Dr. Imani Clarke
Healing is most powerful when it honours the whole person where you come from, what you carry, and where you're going. Cultural identity isn't a footnote in therapy. It's the whole story.
Dr. Imani Clarke is a registered psychologist (PhD, C.Psych) with over 14 years of clinical experience specializing in trauma, cultural identity, and intergenerational healing. Born in Jamaica and raised in Toronto, she brings a deep personal connection to the Caribbean diaspora experience.
Her practice grounds itself in the understanding that wellness looks different for everyone, especially for those carrying the weight of immigration, racial identity, systemic stress, and family expectation. She works primarily with adults, Black women, and Caribbean diaspora clients seeking a therapist who truly gets it not just understands, but has lived it.
Imani holds advanced certifications in trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy, EMDR, and culturally responsive practice. Her training includes specific work in racial trauma and the psychological dimensions of immigration.
Session formats: In-person at the downtown Toronto office (50-min sessions) and virtual via secure video. Bills directly through Sun Life, Manulife, GreenShield Canada, and Canada Life.
Why I do this work
There weren't psychologists who looked like me when I was building my own practice. There weren't case studies in my textbooks that centred Caribbean women's mental health. That gap is what shapes my practice now I do the work I wished had been available when my mother and her sisters needed it.
