About Catherine Loon

Healing in our communities was never just one person sitting with another. It was the land, the elders, the medicines, the relations. I bring all of that into the work, when clients want it there.

Catherine Loon is a Registered Psychotherapist practicing in Winnipeg with a focus on Indigenous mental health, trauma-informed practice, and land-based healing approaches. Cree and Métis, with twelve years of clinical experience.

Catherine's practice serves First Nations, Métis, and Inuit clients across Manitoba. Her work integrates Indigenous knowledge systems particularly Cree and Métis traditions with clinical training. She holds particular focus on intergenerational trauma and the specific psychological dimensions of residential school legacy.

Catherine integrates trauma-focused practice, narrative therapy, and land-based healing modalities. Her practice partners with Indigenous community organizations across Manitoba for community-rate access.

Session formats: In-person at the Winnipeg office and virtual. Some sessions land-based by arrangement. Sliding scale available. Coverage available through Jordan's Principle and NIHB for eligible clients.

Why I do this work

My grandmother told me stories the residential schools tried to make her forget. She kept them anyway, and passed them to me. The work I do is keeping those stories alive in a clinical space that wasn't built for them and making them welcome there.
