About Amara Nwosu
Women's health physiotherapy means something different when the women you serve come from cultures where the body isn't supposed to be discussed. The work starts with making it discussable.
Samira Hassan is a Registered Physiotherapist practicing in Ottawa with a focus on women's health physiotherapy. She has eight years of clinical experience, with advanced certifications in pelvic floor therapy.
Born in Beirut and raised in Ottawa, Samira practices in English and Arabic. Her client base includes Arab and broader Middle Eastern women in the National Capital Region who often delay women's health care because of cultural discomfort with the subject matter.
Samira integrates pelvic floor physiotherapy, postnatal recovery protocols, and culturally responsive women's health care. She maintains a women-only practice environment by request from her client community.
Session formats: In-person at the Ottawa Centretown office. Bilingual English/Arabic available. Insurance billing supported.
How my background shapes my work
In Arab culture, there's a saying women's bodies are between them and God. The unintended consequence was that women's health concerns went untreated for generations. I do this work to change that.
