About Devon Mehta

Identity isn't a thing you arrive at. It's a thing you keep making, every day, in the small choices and the big ones. Therapy is one of those choices.

Devon Mehta is a Registered Social Worker (MSW, RSW) practicing in Toronto with a focus on identity and family-of-origin work with young adults. They hold six years of clinical experience.

Devon's practice centres on Indo-Caribbean and South Asian young adults aged 22-35 navigating identity questions — career, partnership, queerness, religious practice, the relationship to family. Their work supports clients in building a sense of self that doesn't require erasing where they came from.

Devon integrates narrative therapy, family-systems work, and queer-affirming practice. They serve queer, trans, and questioning South Asian clients alongside the broader young-adult caseload.

Session formats: In-person at the Toronto downtown office (50-min sessions) and virtual. Sliding scale available for queer South Asian clients. Insurance billing supported.

Why I do this work

Coming out to my Indo-Caribbean grandmother required a vocabulary that didn't exist in either of our languages. I built one. That experience — of building language where there wasn't any — shapes every conversation I have in this work.
