Diaspora Health Collective

A physician-led collective serving Toronto’s Caribbean and South Asian communities — primary care that doesn’t require explaining where you’re from.

Dr. Imani Clarke

Dr. Imani Clarke is a registered psychologist (PhD, C.Psych) with over 14 years of clinical experience specializing in trauma, cultural identity, and intergenerational healing. Born in Jamaica and raised in Toronto, she brings a deep personal connection to the Caribbean diaspora experience.

Her practice grounds itself in the understanding that wellness looks different for everyone, especially for those carrying the weight of immigration, racial identity, systemic stress, and family expectation. She works primarily with adults, Black women, and Caribbean diaspora clients seeking a therapist who truly gets it — not just understands, but has lived it.

Imani holds advanced certifications in trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy, EMDR, and culturally responsive practice. Her training includes specific work in racial trauma and the psychological dimensions of immigration.

Session formats: In-person at the downtown Toronto office (50-min sessions) and virtual via secure video. Bills directly through Sun Life, Manulife, GreenShield Canada, and Canada Life.

Devon Mehta

Devon Mehta is a Registered Social Worker (MSW, RSW) practicing in Toronto with a focus on identity and family-of-origin work with young adults. They hold six years of clinical experience.

Devon’s practice centres on Indo-Caribbean and South Asian young adults aged 22-35 navigating identity questions — career, partnership, queerness, religious practice, the relationship to family. Their work supports clients in building a sense of self that doesn’t require erasing where they came from.

Devon integrates narrative therapy, family-systems work, and queer-affirming practice. They serve queer, trans, and questioning South Asian clients alongside the broader young-adult caseload.

Session formats: In-person at the Toronto downtown office (50-min sessions) and virtual. Sliding scale available for queer South Asian clients. Insurance billing supported.
